Dear Mr. Zdzisław Krasnodebski, MEP, Observer of the European Parliament within the Executive Board of the Conference on the Future of Europe

Dear Madam or Sir,

the process of the Conference on the Future of Europe is in full swing.

The first conference plenary took place on 19 June 2021. On 22./23.10.2021 the second conference plenary will take place, from January 2022 further plenaries will take place.

From 1 to 3 October 2021 the first European Citizens’ Forum will take place, addressing the theme of our European Citizens’ Initiative (Panel 3: Economy, Social Justice, Employment). From 19 to 21 November 2021 the second and from 7 to 9 January 2022 the third Citizens’ Forum on this topic will take place.

We believe that the current European Citizens’ Initiatives, including our European Citizens’ Initiative “Start Unconditional Basic Incomes (UBI) throughout the EU”, should participate in these plenaries and in the thematically relevant citizens’ forums and should be invited to do so.

Our argument for this is that the EU future issues represented by the European Citizens’ Initiatives have the consent of several tens of thousands or several hundred thousands of EU citizens and must therefore be duly taken into account in the discussion process on the Future of Europe and the representatives of the European Citizens’ Initiatives must be consulted.

In addition, the participation of the representatives of the European Citizens’ Initiative in plenaries and the corresponding citizens’ forums would increase the currently very low level of awareness of the co-determination instrument of the European Citizens’ Initiative. Our European Citizens’ Initiative is also successfully participating on the online platform for the Conference on the Future of Europe.

Dear Madam or Sir,

We look forward with hope to an early and positive response.

Sincerely,
